Twenty-two-year-old Ayesha Khan, who has Spina Biffida and Hydrocephalus meaning she is paralysed from the waist down, takes on the ABP Newport 10k race in her wheelchair on 29th April; to raise money and awareness for Whizz-Kidz. Whizz-Kidz are an organisation who work to transform lives of young disabled people in the UK by providing them with essential mobility equipment and the skills they need to lead an active childhood.
Ayesha Khan said “I have chosen to do this in aid of Whizz-Kidz because they are an organisation which I am very close to, if it wasn’t for their encouragement and support, I wouldn’t be where I am today”. She first got involved with Whizz-Kidz as an ambassador for their Cardiff club in 2010, then progressing on to becoming a young leader and Kidz Board Representative for Wales. She has gone on to make lots of friends at 91Ï㽶ÊÓƵ, Crosskeys Campus, where she is currently studying a Business and Admin course. Her target is to raise £250, if you would like to find out more information or support Ayesha, visit her Just Giving page. She has also participated in the Cardiff Half marathon and hosted bake sales to raise funds and awareness previously for Whizz-Kidz.
Thomas Corrigan, Head of School for Business and Sport at Crosskeys Campus said “Ayesha is an inspiration to us all and a great example of the diversity and inclusivity of 91Ï㽶ÊÓƵ. Our students see their confidence grow while they study and Ayesha is no exception. She demonstrates her determination to succeed both inside the classroom and outside and we all wish her the very best of luck for her latest fundraising challenge.” To find out more about 91Ï㽶ÊÓƵ, please visit www.coleggwent.ac.uk
