In a nutshell
The VTCT Level 4 Award in Dermaplaning qualification is informed by employers and national and international standards for aesthetic beauty and includes all the required elements to work effectively as a fully commercial dermaplaning practitioner.
This course is for...
- those who want to introduce non-medical aesthetic treatments into their business
- those who hold a Level 3 Beauty Therapy qualification or the Level 3 Certificate in Access to Aesthetic Therapies
- those who are aged 18 and over.
Course content
Dermaplaning offers deep exfoliation removing dead skin cells from the upper layer of the surface of the skin using a surgical scalpel. This gentle ‘shaving’ of the skin surface can also remove fine vellus hair (fuzz) from the face giving a renewed and glowing appearance to the skin.
The course includes:
- Health and Safety
- Treatment Planning
- Assessing Skin Characteristics
- Pre and post treatment advice
- Dermaplaning products
- Preparation and selection of equipment and products
- Practical application of treatment
Assessment is through practical and theory examinations and case studies and you will be awarded the VTCT Level 4 Award in Dermaplaning.
On completion of this course you can progress onto other Level 4 and 5 courses including:
- Level 4 Award in Skin Peeling
- Level 4 Award in Skin Needling
- Level 4 Award in Radio Frequency
- Level 4 Award in Microblading Eyebrows
Entry Requirements
You will need to hold a Level 3 Beauty Therapy qualification or Level 3 Certificate in Access to Aesthetics and be aged 18 or over.
Additional information
Please note that from 2024, local authorities require that you complete mandatory training to obtain registration to practice Microblading. The mandatory, one day training course in Infection Prevention Control will be available to you at 91Ï㽶ÊÓƵ.
You will be required to wear a clinic uniform and suitable footwear.
The course fees include tuition and registration fees. Tuition fees are due at the time of booking/enrolment. If required, this can be by direct debit, over five instalments.If your employer is funding your course, confirmation of this in writing will be required so that the college can arrange to invoice them.
It is essential that you are able to provide 4 clients as case studies for your assessments.
Commercial and Business Advantages
Dermaplaning is a cost effective way of getting new clients into your clinic due to the affordability of the treatment. Dermaplaning entry level is around £40 per treatment and the higher end will be about £70 and can take less than 30 minutes in treatment time. You can see Dermaplaning as a standalone treatment package and also as a good add-on treatment.
