Working together

The well-being and success of your child while they’re in our care is extremely important to us. We aim to give everybody the same chance to succeed, regardless of their race, religion, gender, gender reassignment, sexual orientation, disability or age.

These are our top FAQs but if you still have questions, our Student Recruitment team are always happy to help.

FAQs

Why should my child attend 91Ï㽶ÊÓƵ?

As one of Wales’ top performing colleges, our learners achieve excellent outcomes and pass rates, with consistently high A Level results. We also rank joint first for vocational outcomes. Take a look at our long list of awards and accolades.

How do I keep up with my child’s progress?

We aim to keep you fully informed about your child’s progress through parent evenings, letters and regular reports. We are always happy to answer any questions that you may have, or you can contact their personal tutor to discuss any concerns.

We recognise and welcome the contribution that parents/carers can make to your child’s success. We constantly monitor subject progress, attendance, motivation and general wellbeing. Based on this monitoring we periodically produce detailed subject reports and send them directly to you.

What do you expect from my child?

We want everyone to enjoy their time at college and we expect good behaviour from all students, including respect for others. We also expect all students to aim for 100% attendance and punctuality. It is important that they attend all lessons regularly and promptly, as a poor attendance record will affect their achievement, entitlement to grants and could prevent them from sitting exams.

Who will 'look out' for my child when they’re in college?

Student safety and wellbeing is our priority and as such every young person who studies with us has their very own personal tutor. All our staff undertake safeguarding training and our extensive support network ensures they are safe and have access to support services that meet their individual needs.

If you think your son or daughter may require additional learning provision at college, please let us know. The Additional Learning Needs Team provides support for learners with difficulties or disabilities who may require support provision that is additional to the universal support provided to all learners.

Is there any financial help available?

Depending on your child’s chosen course, age and your household income, your child may be eligible for various means of financial support including weekly Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA), free lunchtime meals and free travel.
