Students visit nepal to help underprivileged children

91Ï㽶ÊÓƵ learners support underprivileged children in Nepal

13 March 2023

Learners from Sport and Public Services at Blaenau Gwent Learning Zone have recently embarked on a Global Citizenship Programme to Nepal. They’re working with and its local teams to support rural, disadvantaged communities.

FutureSense Foundation is a grassroots international development charity that works in six countries around the world. In this programme learners will get involved with a range of activities, work with local children, run workshops on STEM, conversational English or raising awareness on environmental issues and so much more.

As part of this initiative, we’re also fundraising for the charity to help to not only continue the work it does but also to grow its impact. The College has a set up where you can donate and show your support. Each member of the team is aiming to raise £100 – here are some of the ways they’re planning to achieve their target:

  • One learner is using a Stairmaster to climb the height of three Mountains.Ìý
  • Dan Coles, Director of External Engagement, has coloured his hair red (the colour of Nepal) to raise money!
  • All the Level 3 Public Service group completed a non-stop cycle race on Monday 13 February.Ìý

Make sure to keep a look out for other fundraising events happening at BGLZ, any donations would be greatly appreciated. So far, the group have already raised an amazing £2,798 for the FutureSense Foundation.

Keep an eye on our social media channels for updates on the student’s experiences in Kathmandu.
